R290, also known as Propane, is a natural hydrocarbon refrigerant gas that is increasingly preferred in both domestic and commercial/industrial refrigeration systems. Thanks to its very low global warming potential (GWP ≈ 3), it stands out as an environmentally friendly alternative and is a modern refrigerant used in place of older generation gases such as R22 and R134a.

R290 offers high efficiency, especially in household refrigerators, commercial display cases, beverage coolers, heat pump systems, and industrial chiller units. Due to its low charge requirement and energy saving properties, it is widely used in sustainable refrigeration solutions.

This gas is a completely pure hydrocarbon gas (C₃H₈) and has a high flammability characteristic of class A3. Therefore, storage, use, transfer, and filling operations must be carried out by authorized and trained technicians.
