FAQs

💬 R23 Refrigerant Gas – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

❄️ General Information

1. What is R23?

R23 is a single-component HFC refrigerant known as Trifluoromethane (CHF₃). It is developed to provide high performance in ultra-low temperature applications.

2. Where is it used?

R23 is used in laboratory freezers, biomedical storage systems, environmental test chambers, cryogenic applications, and cascade refrigeration systems.

3. What temperatures can R23 be used at?

R23 can provide reliable performance in systems operating at -80°C and lower temperatures.

🧯 Cylinders and Safety

4. Can R23 cylinders be refilled?

Yes. At MAX GAZ, we only supply R23 in CE certified, refillable cylinders. Disposable cylinders are not sold.

5. How should cylinders be stored?

Cylinders should be stored upright in dry, cool, and well-ventilated areas. They should be kept away from heat sources.

6. Are empty cylinders taken back?

Yes. Empty cylinders can be returned, or a refilling service can be provided.

⚙️ Usage and Technical Information

7. What is the GWP value of R23?

The global warming potential (GWP) of R23 is approximately 14,800, which is quite high. Therefore, its recovery and environmentally compliant use are of great importance.

8. Does R23 operate at high pressure?

Yes. R23 is a gas that operates at high working pressures. Equipment to be used in the system must be selected to be suitable for these pressures.

9. What should be done in case of a leak?

The system should be shut down, the area ventilated, and only trained technical personnel should intervene.

📞 Sales and Support

10. Can I order in small quantities?

Yes. Orders starting from a single cylinder are supported.

11. Are the products compliant with F-Gas and CE regulations?

Yes. All our R23 products comply with F-Gas Regulation and CE standards.

About MAXGAZ R23

R23 (Trifluoromethane) is a single-component HFC refrigerant gas developed for specialized refrigeration systems operating at ultra-low temperatures. With a boiling point of approximately -82°C, it provides reliable performance at temperatures inaccessible to standard commercial refrigerants. It has been safely used for many years, especially in cryogenic applications and in the low-temperature circuit of cascade refrigeration systems.

R23 is widely preferred in laboratory freezers, biomedical storage systems, environmental test chambers, pharmaceutical research centers, blood and plasma preservation units, cryogenic processes, and scientific research equipment. Its ability to operate stably even at extremely low temperatures offers high reliability in critical applications.

Although it has an ozone depletion potential of 0 (ODP 0), its high GWP value necessitates its use and recovery in accordance with F-Gas regulations. Filling, transfer, and maintenance operations must only be performed by trained and authorized personnel.

As MAX GAZ, we supply R23 gas in CE-certified, refillable, traceable cylinders. Our expert team provides professional support regarding package selection suitable for your system capacity, safe storage, and correct usage.
