R218 (Octafluoropropane) is preferred in ultra-low temperature laboratory systems, environmental test chambers, scientific research equipment, electronic and semiconductor manufacturing processes, and special cascade refrigeration systems. It is also used as a component in some specialized gas mixtures.

R218 gas is supplied by our company in 10L cylinders, net 9 KG or 61-liter cylinders, net 30 Kg. All our products are CE certified, refillable, and supplied in traceable cylinders.

FAQ

💬 R218 Refrigerant Gas – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

❄️ General Information

1. What is R218?

R218 (Octafluoropropane - C₃F₈) is a single-component PFC gas used in ultra-low temperature applications and special industrial processes. It is also one of the components of some specialized refrigerant gas mixtures.

2. Where is R218 used?

R218 is used in cryogenic laboratory systems, electronic and semiconductor manufacturing, environmental test chambers, scientific research, and special cascade refrigeration systems.

3. Can R218 be used at ultra-low temperatures?

Yes. R218 is one of the special gases used in cryogenic and ultra-low temperature applications.

🧯 Cylinder and Safety

4. Can R218 cylinders be refilled?

Yes. As MAX GAZ, we only offer R218 gas in CE-certified, refillable cylinders. Disposable cylinders are not sold.

5. How should cylinders be stored?

Cylinders should be stored upright in cool, dry, and well-ventilated areas. They should be protected from heat sources and direct sunlight.

6. Can empty cylinders be returned?

Yes. Empty cylinders are evaluated for refilling or return.

⚙️ Usage and Technical Information

7. What is the ODP value of R218?

R218 has an ozone depletion potential of 0 (ODP 0) and does not harm the ozone layer.

8. Is R218 flammable?

No. R218 is a non-flammable gas with low toxicity, falling under ASHRAE safety class A1.

9. What precautions should be taken when working with R218?

Pressurized gas equipment should be used, and filling and maintenance operations should only be performed by trained technical personnel.

About Max Gaz R218

R-218 gas is chemically known as Octafluoropropane (C3F8). While octafluoropropane is used as a refrigerant under the name R-218, high-purity C3F8 gas is primarily used in two plasma applications in the semiconductor industry: as a working substance for C3F8 plasma etching of wafers and C3F8 plasma cleaning of vacuum chambers, and as a component of cooling compositions. Furthermore, due to its chemical structure, it is frequently used as a refrigerant in systems requiring very low temperatures. In addition to these applications, it is also used in medicine. C3F8 gas is not a flammable gas.
Max Gaz was the first company to import this gas in Türkiye. CF4 gas is not flammable. Our company stocks R14 in 1-liter (Net 1 kg), 12-liter (Net 12 kg), 30-liter (Net 30 kg), and 61-liter (Net 61 kg) cylinders. R14 is available by special order, so delivery times range from 3 to 6 weeks.
